Why Missions?

ESV Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in1 the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Just as the gospel goes out from the inner most parts of our hearts to the outer most parts of our lives, God saves each of us for a purpose, which is to honor and glorify him in what we say and do.  Salvation is not the end goal but is the inaugural step into God’s Kingdom purposes where each believer is to live in such a way that honors Jesus Christ and reflects the transforming power of the gospel to everyone they meet (Philippians1:27).  We are called, not just to believe the gospel, but to live it out.  Thus, our mission at GCF is to Live The Mission: Making and Teaching Followers of Jesus Christ.

At GCF, we are committed to local and global missions.  Just as Jesus sent out the disciples with the gospel from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), we minister in expanding circles of influence from Cortland, across the USA, and around the world.
